Maizatul Zolkapli

Maizatul Zolkapli is presently affiliated with the College of Engineering at Universiti Teknologi MARA. Her academic journey reflects her dedication and accomplishments: she earned her Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Universiti Tenaga Nasional, pursued an MSc in Microelectronic Engineering at Universiti Malaysia Perlis, and achieved her PhD in Electrical Engineering at Universiti Teknologi MARA in 2001, 2010, and 2019 respectively. Her professional path commenced as a Yield Engineer at Silterra Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. in 2001. Later, in 2006, she embraced the role of a Product Engineer at Freescale Semiconductor Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. before following her heartfelt passion for education and becoming a lecturer in 2010. Her expertise lies in semiconductor and fiber optic technology, specializing in the fabrication of microfluidic transistors and optical fiber sensors. Since joining IEEE in 2011 and attaining Senior Membership in 2018, Maizatul actively engages with the IEEE Electron Devices Society (EDS). Her dedication and leadership were evident during her tenure as Secretary from 2020 to 2022 when the EDS chapter earned accolades, including the IEEE Malaysia Section’s Outstanding Medium Chapter Award in 2021 and the IEEE Malaysia Section’s Outstanding Large Chapter Award in 2022. Throughout the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, Maizatul wholeheartedly committed herself to conducting online COVID-19 awareness programs. Additionally, she diligently worked to bridge the digital divide in underserved urban communities, facilitating access to digital devices and skills, supported by the 2021 IEEE HAC/SIGHT Projects – Focus on COVID-19 Response. Moreover, she organized a multitude of STEM activities involving students in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan, and Terengganu, catering to both regular and special needs students. These impactful programs received crucial support from the IEEE EDS Humanitarian grant. Maizatul relentless dedication has been recognized by the IEEE EDS Malaysia Chapter, honouring her as the distinguished recipient of the IEEE EDS Malaysia Chapter Outstanding Volunteer Award for 2021.
